Extra Mural Activities

Extracurricular activities are the activities you participate in outside of the regular classroom (hence the word ‘extraʼ). Environment is important for social development and for gross motor skill improvement. Extracurricular activities at Kim Field Academy include diverse dancing, hip hop, ballet, Spanish dancing, karate, African gumboot dancing, drama and music. This is incorporated into the daily schooling Roster and at no extra cost as it is part of the monthly school fee payable.

I am a Spanish dancer, teacher and choreographer; specialising in Flamenco. My passion for dance started at a young age of 12 years old, where I was exposed to Ballroom & Latin American Dancing, African Dance as well as Contemporary. I was gifted in Ballroom and Latin American and progressed to professional level where I took part in major competitions in Cape Town and winning many of those competitions in my sections.

 

Hip Hop

Jean Claude Jackson, started dancing at the age of 14. Former leader of Saviors, Guardians, Thee AndroidS, Sammerise and Legacy Dance crew. Best dancer of the year 2016 at the Christian Mzansi Awards, won second place at Dance 2 Yo Rhythm in year 2016, finalist at City Lights 2016. Danced in a music video of Kiki X Chucky and Qualifier at Red Bull Beat Battle.

 

Karate

Mike Lester 7th Dan in the SA Japanese Karate Association. There only about 330, 7th Dan’s in the world. I started karate at the age of 14 and have been teaching juniors & adults for 53 years. Have taken more than 200 students to black belt. Still actively training & competing.

Quinton Mamabolo is a multi-talented artist who creates work that speaks back to the lives of the community. He started his professional artistic journey in 2008. He has worked with a number of Theatre and Musical Companies in Johannesburg, Mpumalanga and Limpopo (MUKA, Royal Vibrationz, Friendly Drummers, Anglo American Coal Theatre Team, Assitej SA Schools’ Tour just to mention a few). To date, Quinton has established himself as a comedian, actor, dancer, musician and musical instructor. He has toured to Czech Republic as a marimba and dance instructor and Republic of Ireland as a musician. His love for music has led him to be a great instructor at the Hillbrow Music Centre and at Kim Field Academy. Quinton loves to groom young artists because he believes that it is a way for them to speak back to their experiences in life.

 

Contemporary Dance

Contemporary Dance

Celeste Loubser started dancing at the age of 4. She went to the New Prague Dance Festival 2016 and represented South Africa. She is a passionate Dancer. She teaches dancing to kids starting from the age of 4. Ballet and Contemporary dancing is her favorite dance style because it enables her to communicate through the music. Music is what feelings sound like. She also danced at showcase events, Birthday party appearances, did competitions since she was really young, did SAATME world Championships and her High energetic freestyle, hustle, rock n roll and slow dance teachers exams through SADTA.
